Welcome to our website. Our campaign is dedicated to addressing the issues and providing solutions to the challenges facing Boulder County's House District 13, including the communities of Nederland, Eldorado Springs, Coal Creek Canyon, Superior, Lafayette, Louisville, Broomfield, Gunbarrel and East Boulder, Niwot, South Longmont, and much of rural and mountain Boulder County.

As a husband and father and as a life-long county resident with roots in this county generations-deep, nothing concerns me more than the quality of our lives here in Boulder County. As a business owner and as a proven conservationist and environmental advocate, I am keenly aware of the balance between our continued prosperity and our communities' quality of life. Our local legislators, and county commissioners have done little to manage that balance effectively.

Growth and traffic congestion are out of control, urban sprawl is evident across much of Boulder County, our schools face overcrowding and declining test scores, our services and infrastructure are overburdened, property taxes are soaring to pay growth's way, and for the first time in decades, crime and moreover the fear of crime has made its way into the heart of our communities.

Our local leaders plead "we'll fix it, just elect us once again and give us more time". They have made a life's career of feeding at the public trough while offering little in the way of real ingenuity and leadership.

I'm John Vanderhart and I offer a change from politics as usual. I'm not a professional politico; I'm a father, a husband, a successful entrepreneur and small business owner and I'm a proven conservationist and environmental advocate. I share the same dreams and goals as you probably do. Dreams for my family, our home, our business, our savings for the future, and my family's quality of life.

My wife Jeannine our daughter Alexis and I spend most of our free time outdoors, we ski, golf, bicycle and garden. As a family, we take long walks and enjoy the Boulder Creek path together. We have a small cabin in northern Colorado which has no electricity or running water. We escape there whenever possible, to hike, canoe and fly fish.

We live in Boulder County because we love it here, both our families are here and we have made it our home.

I ask you to look at where I stand, look at my vision for Boulder County, look at the problems our current leadership have left us. Then ask yourself "is this any time for politics as usual?". Or do I want to support a representative who's voice will be heard, a representative who doesn't support the status quo, a representative who won't be shrugged off as just another "tree hugger" from Boulder, and a representative who shares the same concerns and passions as I do.
